CRM is a central source of information for many tangential business applications and processes, so connectivity is key. Base has long supported this need by working closely with our customers to build out a wide variety of integrations via our Sync and REST APIs, and we are excited to announce the addition of our new Firehose API! While the Firehose early access program has been up and running for several months, it is now readily available to all Base customers.
What Is Firehose?
The Firehose API delivers a continuous stream of data from Base in near real-time, enabling event-driven workflows within Base or other business systems, such as distributing new leads to users or opening a ticket when a particular change is made to a deal. The use case for Firehose differs from REST and Sync APIs in several key ways, including:
– Provides near real-time integration with high volumes of data
– Captures granular details around each event and data change
– Delivers a complete, sequential stream of events, rather than just the most recent
Why Use Firehose?
The Firehose API can be used to power automations that support complex and unique sales processes within Base and other business systems, including marketing automation platforms, messaging applications, quoting/contracting solutions and more. These workflows save reps significant time and help close more deals faster by effectively facilitating the sales process and highlighting priorities.
For example, Firehose can be used to change a contact’s deal stage in Base or create a task for the rep to follow up again at a specific time based on the outcome of a call. Similarly, if a deal is moved to a particular stage in Base, Firehose can trigger events in other systems such as sending an email or text message, dynamically generating a proposal or creating a support ticket.
Power Business Intelligence
While Base offers Apollo for actionable, prescriptive sales insights, companies looking to extend this intelligence can also use Firehose to pass a continuous stream of events from Base directly to other business intelligence and sales analytics platforms. Event-based data aids in identifying the types of activities that convert the most successfully, the ideal number of touches needed to close a deal, and other actionable insights. It can also be used to fuel real-time sales team performance dashboards.
Finally, Firehose can be leveraged to generate alerts within Base and external systems based on granular information in Base. For instance, Firehose can power a hot lead notification in HipChat or Slack, or a reminder via push notification to schedule a meeting or make a call.
